Preventing violence against women and children: an evidence review

This report distils principles, approaches and activities that hold promise for reducing violence in South Africa.

This report presents findings from an evidence review of interventions in South Africa to prevent violence against women and violence against children, that were documented between 1999 and 2021. It identifies and distils principles, approaches and activities that hold promise for effectively reducing violence experienced by women and children in South Africa.

About the authors

Matodzi M Amisi is a Senior Research Consultant in the Justice and Violence Prevention programme at the Institute for Security Studies.

Sara N Naicker is a Research Project Manager at the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Human Development at the University of the Witwatersrand.
