United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reform is an important but ambitious project. Negotiations on reform have stalled and yet now, more than ever, effective and legitimate global governance is needed.
Strategic civil society action may help unlock the issue. Elect the Council proposes a broad-based global civil society campaign for UNSC reform. In partnership with emerging powers, civil society must get involved in the UNSC reform debate to promote a human rights approach. This proposed collective action will be the subject of a meeting in New York in September.
This seminar will discuss why and how UNSC reform should take place based on Elect the Council’s proposal.
