37th AU summit – ingredient for change or business as usual?

This seminar will critically examine whether the summit’s decisions can improve Africa’s global positioning and the AU’s effectiveness.

The African Union’s (AU) February summit is expected to make decisions on the modalities of participating in the G20 and Africa’s priorities at the global forum, implementation of Agenda 2063, AU reform and the appointment of new Peace and Security Council members.

Will these decisions improve Africa’s place in the global arena and enable the AU to confront its internal shortcomings and the challenges that thwart continental progress? This seminar will critically discuss the summit’s outcomes and what they mean for Africa and the AU.

This event is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) and Amani Africa.

Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be provided.
